Mental Health First-Aid Ghana
24/7 Toll-Free Mental Health Support for University Students. Confidential, Anonymous, and Free.
What is Mental First-Aid Ghana?
About the Project
Everyone faces mental health challenges at some point in life, yet stigma and a lack of understanding prevent open discussions and access to help.
Despite the difference between mental health issues and mental illnesses, many people hesitate to seek support due to stigma, lack of information, and inadequate mental health facilities.
Mental Health First Aid Ghana was created to bridge this gap by providing a 24/7 toll-free helpline, social media awareness, and community outreach. We ensure university students have immediate, anonymous, and professional mental health support when they need it most.

Why Mental First-Aid Ghana?
Why This Matters?
Existing university counseling services are limited to office hours and under-resourced, leaving students vulnerable, especially at night, during exams, or in personal crises
Studies on university students in Ghana show:
- 1 in 5 students faces significant mental health challenges, including depression and anxiety.
- Limited professional and peer support leaves students feeling isolated.
- Financial constraints stop students from accessing professional help.
- Stigma prevents students from seeking help openly.
- Suicide rates among young people are rising due to untreated mental health issues.
- Relationship struggles, particularly during peak seasons like Valentine’s Day, contribute to emotional distress.
